  • Jupiter vs. The Sun: A Comparative Size and Mass Analysis
It's not quite that simple! We can't compare the size of Jupiter and the Sun by a simple number because they are fundamentally different things:

    * Jupiter is a gas giant: It's a planet, mostly made of gas.

    * The Sun is a star: It's a giant ball of hot gas that produces its own light and heat through nuclear fusion.

Here are the ways we CAN compare them:

    * Mass: The Sun is about 1,047 times more massive than Jupiter.

    * Volume: The Sun is about 1,300,000 times larger than Jupiter in volume.

    * Diameter: The Sun's diameter is about 10 times larger than Jupiter's.

So, while you can't say "X Jupiters = 1 Sun", you can say that the Sun is much, much larger and heavier than Jupiter.
