  • Light-Year vs. Parsec: Understanding Astronomical Distance Units
The unit of measurement that represents the distance light travels in one year is light-year.

A parsec is a different unit of measurement, also used for astronomical distances. It is defined as the distance at which one astronomical unit (the average distance between the Earth and the Sun) subtends an angle of one arcsecond.
