While we've sent probes to Venus, the extreme conditions on the planet make it impossible for humans to survive there. Here's why:
* Extreme heat: Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system, with surface temperatures reaching a scorching 867°F (464°C). This is hot enough to melt lead.
* Crushing pressure: The atmospheric pressure on Venus is about 92 times that of Earth's, equivalent to being about 900 meters (3,000 feet) below the surface of the ocean.
* Toxic atmosphere: The Venusian atmosphere is primarily composed of carbon dioxide, with thick clouds of sulfuric acid. These conditions would be deadly to humans.
Though no humans have been to Venus, our robotic explorers have gathered valuable data about this fascinating planet.
