  • Isaac Newton: The Pioneer of Reflecting Telescopes
The first person to design and build a reflecting telescope was Isaac Newton in 1668.

While others had attempted to create reflecting telescopes before him, Newton's design was the first to be successful. He was the first to use a concave mirror to focus light, which solved the problem of chromatic aberration (color fringing) that plagued refracting telescopes of the time.
