  • New Moon Phase: When the Moon is Between Earth and Sun
The moon is between the Earth and the Sun during the New Moon phase.

    Here's why:

    * Lunar Phases: The moon doesn't produce its own light; we see it because sunlight reflects off its surface. The different phases of the moon are caused by the changing angles at which we see the sunlit portion of the moon as it orbits Earth.

    * New Moon: During the New Moon phase, the moon is positioned directly between the Earth and the Sun. This means the sunlit side of the moon is facing away from Earth, making it appear completely dark from our perspective.
