  • Uranus' Blue-Green Hue: The Science Behind Its Atmospheric Color
The blue-green color of Uranus' atmosphere comes from the presence of methane (CH₄).

    Here's how it works:

    * Methane absorbs red light: Methane gas in Uranus' atmosphere absorbs red light from the Sun.

    * Blue and green light are reflected: The remaining light, primarily blue and green, is reflected back into space. This is why Uranus appears blue-green to us.

It's important to note that while methane is the primary reason for Uranus' color, other atmospheric components like hydrogen and helium also play a role.
