  • Nebulae: The Stellar Nurseries Where Stars Are Born
The term for swirling clouds of hydrogen gas out of which stars are born is nebula.

Specifically, these are often called molecular clouds, because they are cold and dense enough for hydrogen atoms to combine into hydrogen molecules.

While there are different types of nebulae (like planetary nebulae and supernova remnants), the ones where stars are born are often referred to as stellar nurseries.
