  • Understanding Spring Tides: What Causes Them?
Just after the new moon and full moon phases, the spring tide is created.

    Here's why:

    * Gravitational Alignment: During these phases, the sun, moon, and Earth are aligned. The combined gravitational pull of the sun and moon creates a stronger tide.

    * High High Tides: Spring tides result in higher high tides and lower low tides compared to average tides.

    * "Springing Forth": The name "spring tide" doesn't relate to the season. It comes from the idea of the tides "springing forth" with more force during these phases.
