  • Understanding Antinodes and Nodes in Standing Waves
The highest points on a standing wave are called antinodes. These are points of maximum displacement, where the wave's amplitude is at its greatest.

The lowest points on a standing wave are called nodes. These are points of zero displacement, where the wave's amplitude is zero.

Think of a vibrating guitar string. The center of the string vibrates with the greatest amplitude (antinode), while the ends of the string remain stationary (nodes).
