  • John Glenn and NASA: Exploring His Relationship with the Space Agency
John Glenn did not work for NASA in the traditional sense of being an employee. However, he was deeply involved with the organization throughout his life:

    * He was an astronaut for NASA: Glenn was one of the original seven astronauts selected for Project Mercury. He flew the Friendship 7 mission, becoming the first American to orbit Earth.

    * He was a senator: After his astronaut career, Glenn served in the United States Senate. He was a strong advocate for NASA and space exploration.

    * He was a consultant: Glenn continued to work with NASA after his Senate service. He provided advice on space policy and technology.

While he didn't have a formal job at NASA after Project Mercury, his relationship with the agency remained strong and influential for decades.
