  • Sun's Composition: Hydrogen and Helium - The Core Elements
    The two main elements of the Sun are hydrogen (H) and helium (He).

    * Hydrogen makes up about 70.6% of the Sun's mass. It's the fuel source for nuclear fusion reactions that power the Sun.

    * Helium makes up about 27.4% of the Sun's mass. It's a byproduct of nuclear fusion, where hydrogen atoms combine to form helium.

    These two elements are responsible for almost all of the Sun's mass and energy output.
