  • Ozone Layer: Protecting Earth from Harmful UV Radiation
The gas that prevents damaging ultraviolet radiation from the sun reaching Earth's surface is ozone (O3).

Ozone forms a layer in the stratosphere, about 10 to 50 kilometers above Earth's surface. This layer, known as the ozone layer, absorbs most of the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, protecting life on Earth.
