  • Metallic Hydrogen in Jupiter & Saturn: A Deep Dive
The jovian planets that contain metallic hydrogen are Jupiter and Saturn.

    Here's why:

    * Metallic hydrogen is a form of hydrogen that exists under extreme pressure. It acts like a liquid metal, conducting electricity and contributing to the strong magnetic fields of these planets.

    * Jupiter and Saturn have massive cores and enormous pressures deep within their interiors. This pressure is sufficient to create metallic hydrogen.

    * Uranus and Neptune, while also gas giants, have less mass and lower internal pressure. Their interiors don't reach the conditions necessary for metallic hydrogen formation.

So, while all four jovian planets are gas giants, only Jupiter and Saturn have the right conditions for metallic hydrogen in their cores.
