  • Telescopes: Your Guide to Observing Stars and Planets
The instrument used for seeing stars and planets is a telescope.

There are two main types of telescopes:

    * Refracting telescopes: These use lenses to gather and focus light.

    * Reflecting telescopes: These use mirrors to gather and focus light.

Both types of telescopes are used by astronomers to study the universe, but reflecting telescopes are generally more powerful for observing distant objects.
