  • Understanding the Waxing Moon: What We See & Lunar Phases
When the moon is waxing, the sunlit part we see is increasing. This means that we see more and more of the moon's illuminated side as it progresses through its phases.

    Here's a breakdown:

    * Waxing Crescent: A thin sliver of the moon is visible, growing larger each night.

    * Waxing Gibbous: More than half of the moon is illuminated, with the lit portion increasing until it reaches full.

    * Full Moon: The entire face of the moon is illuminated.

So, when the moon is waxing, you're seeing the sunlit portion getting bigger!
