    Anton van Leeuwenhoek was not alive in the 1600s. He was born in 1632 and died in 1723.

    He is famous for his pioneering work with microscopes in the late 1600s and early 1700s. He was the first to see and describe microorganisms like bacteria, protozoa, and yeast. He also made important observations about the structure of blood cells, muscle fibers, and other biological materials.
