  • Mars Rovers: A Timeline of Images Sent to Earth
The first rover to send pictures from Mars to Earth was Sojourner, part of the Mars Pathfinder mission. It landed on Mars on July 4th, 1997, and sent back the first images.

Here's a timeline of other rovers and their image-sending dates:

    * Spirit & Opportunity (2004): Both rovers sent back stunning images of the Martian landscape, including panoramic views and close-up shots of rocks and soil.

    * Curiosity (2012): Curiosity has sent back an incredible amount of data, including high-resolution color images, videos, and even 3D panoramas.

    * Perseverance (2021): This rover is currently exploring the Jezero Crater and sending back images of the Martian surface, including the first audio recordings of Martian winds.

It's important to note that these are just some of the notable missions that have sent images from Mars. Other missions, like the Viking landers and the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, have also contributed to our understanding of the red planet through their images.
