  • Understanding the Sun's Visible Surface: The Photosphere
The part of the Sun that is visible to the naked eye at all times is its photosphere.

    Here's why:

    * Photosphere: This is the visible surface of the Sun. It's the layer where the Sun's energy becomes transparent to light, allowing us to see it.

    * Chromosphere: This is a layer above the photosphere, but it's much fainter and only visible during solar eclipses or with specialized telescopes.

    * Corona: This is the outermost layer of the Sun's atmosphere, also faint and only visible during solar eclipses or with special instruments.

While the Sun is a giant ball of plasma and energy, it's the photosphere that we actually see when we look up at the Sun.
