There are two main types of star clusters:
* Open clusters: These are loosely bound groups of stars that are relatively young and often found in the disk of the galaxy. They contain hundreds to thousands of stars. Examples include the Pleiades and the Hyades.
* Globular clusters: These are tightly packed, spherical groups of stars that are very old and found in the halo of the galaxy. They contain hundreds of thousands to millions of stars. Examples include M13 and Omega Centauri.
