  • Arcturus: The Brightest Star Near Earth - Size & Distance
The largest star close to Earth is Arcturus, a red giant star located about 36.7 light-years away.

While Arcturus isn't the absolute largest star known (there are supergiants that dwarf it), it's the largest star within a relatively close distance to our solar system. It's about 25 times the diameter of our Sun and has a luminosity roughly 170 times greater.
