  • Earth's Axial Tilt: Stability and Precession Explained
The Earth's axis doesn't change its angle during its orbit around the Sun. The angle of the Earth's axis remains relatively constant at approximately 23.5 degrees, which is what causes the seasons.

However, there are two important points to remember:

    1. Axial Precession: The Earth's axis does slowly wobble like a spinning top over a period of thousands of years. This phenomenon, called axial precession, changes the direction the axis points, but not the angle itself.

    2. Slight Variations: There are very minor variations in the Earth's axial tilt over shorter periods, but these are negligible in comparison to the overall tilt.

So, while the Earth's axis doesn't change its angle during its orbit, the direction it points does change very slowly over time due to axial precession.
