Claudius Ptolemy and the Geocentric Universe Model: A Historical Overview
The Ptolemaic universe theory is attributed to Claudius Ptolemy, a Roman astronomer and mathematician who lived in Alexandria, Egypt, in the 2nd century AD.
While Ptolemy wasn't the first to propose a geocentric model of the universe (the idea that Earth is the center of the universe), his model, described in his book *Almagest*, became the standard model of astronomy for over 1400 years.
