  • The Sun as Seen from Mercury: Size, Brightness & Color
    The Sun from Mercury

    * Apparent size: 2.5 times larger than as seen from Earth.

    * Brightness: 7 times brighter than as seen from Earth.

    * Color: Slightly more yellow than as seen from Earth.

    * Sunlight is extremely harsh due to the sun's proximity; even during sunrise and sunset, it will be bright. Even though Mercury's atmosphere is practically non-existent, it does cause slight scattering, creating a thin, wispy blue rim around the sun when it's close to the horizon. Sunrises and sunsets on Mercury are very fast due to the planet's fast rotation, lasting only a few minutes.
