  • Wind and the Sun: Understanding the Connection
The sun is not the direct cause of wind, though it does play an indirect role. For example, the uneven heating of the Earth's surface by the sun leads to the formation of global wind patterns. On the other hand, certain types of wind, such as a sea breeze, are also a direct result of temperature differences.

At a smaller scale, obstacles like mountains and buildings can also affect local winds without direct involvement from the sun. Therefore, while the sun plays an indirect role in some types of wind, there would still be wind without the sun.
