  • Star Temperatures: How Hot Are Stars Compared to the Sun?
Some stars are hotter than the sun, while others are cooler. The sun's surface temperature is approximately 5,778 K (5,505°C; 9,941°F), but stars can range in temperature from a few thousand degrees Kelvin to tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of Kelvin. The hottest stars are typically blue or white, while the coolest stars are red.
