  • Asteroids: Understanding the Rocky Belt Between Mars & Jupiter
The large rocks that orbit the Sun between Mars and Jupiter are called asteroids. They range in size from a few feet to hundreds of miles across. Most asteroids are made of rock and metal, but some are made of ice. Asteroids orbit the Sun in a belt that is located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
