  • Understanding Gravity: How Planets Stay in Orbit
Gravity is the force that attracts objects with mass toward each other. The greater the mass of an object, the stronger its gravitational pull. Planets orbit the Sun and moons orbit planets due to the force of gravity.

It is true that the gravity in outer space is much weaker than the gravity on Earth. This is because the mass of the objects in space is much less than the mass of the Earth. However, the gravity in space is still strong enough to hold the planets and moons in orbit.
