  • Gravitational Forces Between Stars and Galaxies: An Explanation
Stars, including our Sun, and planets are generally located within the same galaxy. Stars such as the Sun feel the gravitational forces from other objects within the own galaxy, including other stars, gas clouds, and dark matter. The gravitational force becomes weaker as the distance between objects increases; however, even distant stars and galaxies experience some pull from each other, albeit extremely diminished by such extensive separations. For instance, our Milky Way galaxy and the neighboring Andromeda galaxy exert a slight gravitational influence on each other. Nevertheless, the primary gravitational impact, such as our Sun feeling the force from a neighbouring star, tends to occur within the scales of a galactic neighbourhood rather than vastly remote galaries
