Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin collected over 470 pounds of lunar samples during their historic Apollo 11 mission. The samples included rocks, soil, and dust, as well as a variety of other materials, such as lunar meteorites and micrometeorites, and gas and particle samples from the lunar atmosphere and surface. These samples were collected through a variety of means, including the use of scoops, tongs, and core tubes, and were stored in vacuum containers for return to Earth. The samples were then studied by scientists and researchers around the world, providing valuable insights into the composition, age, and history of the moon.
