  • Space Observation & Time Dilation: Seeing the Past?
Looking into space is not the same as looking back in time. However, due to the finite speed of light, when observing distant objects in space, we are seeing them as they existed in the past. The light that we see from these objects left them millions or even billions of years ago, and has been travelling through space ever since. Therefore, when looking into deep space, we are essentially seeing a historical record of the universe.
