  • Colloids Explained: Understanding Clouds as a Colloid
Clouds are an example of a colloid. A colloid is a heterogeneous mixture in which one substance (the dispersed phase) is distributed throughout another substance (the continuous phase). The dispersed phase is usually a solid or liquid, and the continuous phase is usually a liquid or gas. In the case of clouds, the dispersed phase is water droplets or ice crystals, and the continuous phase is air.
