  • Wall Clouds: Identification, Formation, and Severe Weather Risks
A wall cloud is a low, rotating cloud often associated with thunderstorms. It appears as a smooth, almost vertical cloud that hangs from the base of the larger thunderstorm cloud, usually rotating around a vertical axis. Wall clouds are typically gray or white and range in size from a few hundred feet to several miles wide. They are often a sign of severe weather, including tornadoes.
