The wide range of energy waves that radiate from the sun is called solar radiation. Solar radiation includes visible light, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and infrared (IR) radiation. Visible light is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that can be seen by the human eye. UV radiation has a shorter wavelength than visible light and is responsible for sunburns and skin cancer. IR radiation has a longer wavelength than visible light and is responsible for the feeling of warmth from the sun.
