  • Milky Way's Galactic Neighborhood: Exploring its Cosmic Surroundings
The Milky Way galaxy is part of the Local Group, which is a small group of galaxies that includes the Andromeda Galaxy and the Triangulum Galaxy. The Local Group is in turn part of the Virgo Supercluster, which is a much larger group of galaxies. The Virgo Supercluster is moving towards the Shapley Supercluster at about 600 kilometers per second.
