An F5 tornado is the strongest type of tornado on the Enhanced Fujita scale (EF Scale), with winds exceeding 300 miles per hour. EF5 tornadoes are rare, but they can cause catastrophic damage. The smallest EF5 tornado on record was the Moore, Oklahoma tornado of May 20, 2013. This tornado had a path length of just over 1 mile, and it killed 24 people and injured hundreds more.
