  • Nucleoli: Understanding Their Presence and Role in Cell Activity
Nucleoli are present when the cell is not actively dividing. For example, in animal cells, nucleoli appear during interphase and disappear just before the separation of the chromosomes (prophase), and reappear afterwards during telophase. In short, whenever the cell is performing its metabolic functions, the nucleolus is present.
