  • Understanding the Centrosome Aster: Formation & Function in Mitosis
    Aster

A starburst pattern formed by microtubules around centrioles is called an Aster. They are observed during the formation and separation of the two centrosome at the beginning of mitosis.

The aster fibers radiate out from the centriole in all directions, forming the shape of a star. They help organize and position the mitotic spindle during cell division.
