The term "new breed comet" is usually applied to comets of the Jupiter-family comet group that are in orbits more eccentric than their closest neighbor asteroids. It does not appear that Hartley-2 is a comet of this type, as its orbital eccentricity is 0.46, which is roughly in the middle of the range of eccentricities of Jupiter-family comets.
