  • Hoopoe Eggs: A Study in Blue-Green Beauty & Nesting
The eggs of hoopoes are a beautiful pale blue-green color, with brown spots. The spots are more concentrated at the larger end of the egg. The eggs are laid in a nest in a hole in a tree, and are incubated by both parents for about 18 days. The chicks are born blind and helpless, but they grow quickly and are able to fly after about 3 weeks.
