El Niño has been declared in Australia. Here is an abstract from the Bureau of Meteorology website dated September 9 2015 declaring the El Niño in Australia:
*The El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) has shifted to El Niño and remained at alert levels during August as indicated by several atmospheric and oceanic indices. Most climate models anticipate this event will be amongst the strongest since 1976.*
