  • Solve the Olbers Paradox: A Challenging Cosmology Puzzle
Cosmology is the branch of astronomy concerned with the universe as a whole.

Here's a cosmology puzzle for you to try and solve:

    The Olbers Paradox:

The night sky is dark: If the universe is infinite and uniformly filled with stars, why is the night sky dark? Wouldn't there be so many stars in every direction that the entire sky would be as bright as the surface of the sun?

This is known as Olbers' Paradox, named after the German astronomer Heinrich Olbers who first posed it in 1823. Can you suggest explanations for why the night sky is dark despite the presence of numerous stars in the universe?
